Aquarius is an OpenGL based Windows screensaver that will displays images, video and Web pages on a variety of moving objects. Many different media formats are supported including, most recently, images from the photo sharing Web site Flickr™. The media can be stored on your computer or streamed in from the Internet. Aquarius comes with a list of built in media to try and it's really easy to add your own.
The media formats that are recognized include:
Web pages - almost anything that Internet Explorer™ can display.
QuickTime™ (typically MOV files) - virtually anything that the QuickTime™ Player can display including movies, QTVR files and streaming formats via the RTSP protocol.
Windows Media™ formats supported by your system (typically AVI, WMV, ASF files) and including streaming formats.
MPEG 1 & 2 movies (typically MPG, MPEG files).
Flash™ movies (typically SWF files) indirectly via QuickTime™.
Various image formats (typically GIF, BMP, JPG, PNG files).
Flickr™ images including support for selecting images based on search tag, username, group and "interestingness".
The objects that you can use to display the media include:
Cunningly complex grid - an infinite grid through which you tumble endlessly. Mesmerizing!
Strangely simple cube - a single large cube that bounces around the screen. Works best with media you might want to read such as a news Web site.
Wildly waving flag - flutters gently in the wind - looks great with a QuickTime™ movie on it!
